The winter growing of Scented Narcissi on the near sub-tropical Isles of Scilly is one of the last thriving cottage industries in the country.
The flowers are grown by around 40 family growers who coax these exquisite multi-headed, fragrant blooms from Lilliputian fields scattered across the Scillonian archipelago only 28 miles from the coast of Cornwall.
The flowers are grown naturally in the open-air and are one of the few flowers grown commercially that are scented - and what wonderful scents! So much so that three of the world¹s leading 'Noses' have recently visited the islands to 'capture' the scent of the some of the most popular varieties of Isles of Scilly narcissi.
